Elche CF

Match Date: 03 May 2014 (local time)

Venue: Estadio La Rosaleda

Going against Getafe left a bitter-sweet taste memory to Bernd Schuster. Malaga suffered a narrow defeat. But Schuster was nonetheless, happy of his former club’s performance.

Meanwhile, Elche’s head honcho, Fran Escriba, expressed his disappointment when his side “settled for a draw” against Levante, thus, making their survival struggle even more difficult as they visit La Rosaleda.

Between Malaga and Elche, it is the latter, which carries the bulk of survival dilemmas. Despite the overt improvement in their rank, Escriba’s disappointment stems from the fact that they could have veered farther from the relegation zone if they clinched 3 points. The club is still unsafe from the stiff relegation battle as some of the rock-bottom outfits, are still determined to ensure their safety for the next season.

Elche has already lost its last 12 matches. It has also conceded an average of 2 goals in 8 of their clashes outside its territory. With their match pitted against Malaga, the club will once again, take the visitor’s role and if issues in their away battles are not addressed, this greatly places them in a compromising situation.

On the other hand,  Malaga might just use the upcoming match as an opportunity to redeem themselves in a disappointing loss to Getafe. They are perceived to be the match’s online betting favorite since they have dominated their previous encounters against Elche. During their last 6 matches, Malaga has managed to score 3 victories, while Elche can only afford to win twice.
