Olympiacos and Manchester City obtained one victory apiece in their first two matches at the International Champions Cup. However, City rank higher in the table than Olympiacos as the latter incurred a defeat while the former picked one point from a draw with Liverpool.

Olympiacos

Thus far, Thrylos are the only side in their group to score a clean sheet based on more than one goal. However, they need more of this to qualify for the next rounds. They are two points behind the current table leaders, Liverpool, and if they are able to win their last fixture in the group stage—provided that their English rivals will fail to earn all the spoils in the final group stage battle—they can hope for an overall victory in the final.

In their most recent battle, Muchel’s men were narrowly edged by Liverpool after finishing the fierce fight in a 1-0 result. The side played with tactical quality but they were unable to deliver an equalizer to Raheem Sterling’s early goal.

Manchester City

City picked up four points from their two last matches in the ICC, winning over Milan and losing in a penalty shootout to Liverpool. Their win over their Italian rivals was the most impressive battle of the entire tournament, so far. A brace from Stevan Jovetic and goals from Sinclair, Navas, and Iheanacho were enough to make Manchester City the best scoring side among all squads based on a single match. Additionally, Jevetic is currently the tournament’s top scorer.

Their ‘loss’ to Liverpool, meanwhile, was only due to penalties. The match originally ended in a draw 2-2 but Simon Mignolet’s heroic saves proved decisive of the final verdict.
