Napoli can use the Europa League’s stage to seek a possible redemption from its disappointing performance in Serie A. The club’s performance both in the international and domestic leagues manifests contrasting results, in which the squad excels in the other, but fails in another.

The contenders

Slovan Bratislava

Slovan Bratislava’s frustrating defeat from Young Boys seems to be a premonition of an early exit in the competition. The squad suffered a heavy beating from their previous opponent and weakened its possibilities of advancing into the next stage. Goal difference—this the club’s current Achilles’ heel. Reversing its current situation is not easy, but at the very least, they should readily try to defy the odds.

Napoli continues to struggle in Italy’s top-flight league. The last season’s title contender is nowhere to be found among the ranks of Serie A’s elite, but instead, flirts and linger in the mid-table.

Yet, quite, surprisingly, Napoli displays an impressive performance in the Europa League. A 3-1 win over Sparta Praha makes them the 2nd best team in the group and high possibilities of advancing in the competition’s latter stages. But its present success in a larger arena gives the Partenopei no reason to celebrate—for in an ideal and almost utopic set-up, the online betting favorite should also excel in the domestic league.

Possible head turners

Nailing 2 crucial goals in the competition, it is only fitting for Sparta Praha to take a close look at Dries Mertens. If possible, it is a much better option if the squad can contain the Partenopei’s power midfielder.
