Europa League Preview: Asteras vs. Partizan

Updated: October 1, 2014

Match Date: 02 October 2014 (local time)

Venue: Theodoros Kolokotronis Stadium

Both Asteras and Partizan have to be content with an even steven finish during their first Group Stage match in Europa League. The said result handed each of them a point.
As the two clubs meet, it is less likely for them to settle into another stalemate. Which team will rise on top?

The contenders

Asteras’ late rally left Besiktas frustrated during their first encounter. A late goal from Facundo Parra saved the club from a possible loss that could have pushed them at the rock bottom pit of the table.

Presently, there is no reason for Asteras to wave the white flag to its upcoming opponent. Its 2 consecutive victories in the Greek Super League should inspire them to deliver an outstanding performance.

Partizan responded well to the Tottenham challenge when they contained the latter and forced a scoreless stalemate. As a matter of fact, they have managed to take more shots than the football betting favorite, but Tottenham’s defence was plain invincible.

Partizan currently sits at the bottom of the Group, but only because of disparities in goal difference since all the squads in Group C earned a point during their initial match.

Possible head turners

Parra could strike another goal once the opportunity arrives. With such attacking threat, it is only fitting for Partizan to prepare a stronger and sturdier defence.
