England have frequently been at the front of Switzerland as far the Euro championship fixtures are concerned. In their last three UEFA battles, for example, the side won over their Alpine opponents twice and forced a draw in the remainder.

Switzerland are among the smallest yet most successful UEFA members to participate in the World Cup. They have been involved in 10 non-consecutive editions of the tournament and were quarter-finalists three times. In the Euro championships, however, the side were only able to participate three times in the competition’s five-decade history. They made their debut in the Euro 1996 (finishing in the Group stage) but failed to qualify four years later. They again qualified in the 2004 and 2008 editions but lost a chance to seize the title in 2012. With their recent international performances quite impressive, they have a good chance at making it to the Euro 2016 once more.

Although they have already won in one World Cup, England have yet to obtain a Euro title. The highest finish they gained from the tournament so far is the Third Place, in 1968, when Italy served as hosts. They have already qualified in all championships since 1988 except in 2008 when they only reach the third spot in the Group stage of the qualifications. They are among the major UEFA superpowers to not win the Henri Delaunay Cup and indeed, they are yet to reach a European Championship final. Their recent international showings are also a mixture of hits and misses, with successful stints in numerous friendlies but failed to get past the Group stage in the Brazil World Cup. Nevertheless, England remain a powerhouse side composed of top-notch talents.

Sports betting tip: England can pull off a narrow win against Switzerland.
