Kazakhstan and Latvia’s last three matches have almost completely favored the latter, with their most recent battle—held on February 2012—being the only instance that the sides shared the spoils.

Geographically and politically part of Asia, Kazakhstan were accepted as a UEFA member in the early 2000s. The former republic of the Soviet Union had a moderate success in Euro qualifying (but completely empty handed in the tournament proper) having been able to participate in two pre-championships: finished sixth out of eight teams on the road to Euro 2008 and sixth out of six in the last edition. Their form in recent years has been mostly frustrating, with particular failure in the World Cup qualifications. Their five latest international matches from all competitions only yielded them with one win and inflicted them with two defeats and two deadlocks.

Latvia may not be among the strongest and most popular sides in Europe but they had some important achievements that every front-runner must be aware of. In the qualification for Euro 2004, they impressively (and unexpectedly) defeated Turkey in a play-off after finishing as group runners-up to Sweden, thus producing one of the major upsets of the UEFA European Championship’s modern history. They also pulled off a draw with Germany in Portugal for the tournament proper, although did not give them the ticket to advance through the next stage of ten competition. The Euro 2004 was their first, and so far their only appearance in the European championship finals.

Football betting tip: Kazakhstan and Latvia will commence their qualifying campaign with a draw.
