Faroe Islands are among the lowest ranking sides in Europe in terms of coefficient rating, putting them in the Pot 6 of UEFA’s seeding designations. Finland, meanwhile, rank 18 places higher. They are among the tournament’s dark horses. The teams have already met in three previous battles, all of which were won by Finland.

Faroe Islands

The Faroe Islands debuted in the Euro qualifications in 1992, the year when they also had their greatest win in history after they defeated the much more popular side Austria 1-0. However,  only three of their 12 qualifying campaigns have produced more than one win and they never qualified for the tournament proper. Their recent matches also do not tell that they will make it this time around as 15 of their last 17 battles yielded zero points.

Finland had to play in 19 UEFA European Championship qualifiers first before they recorded their very first triumph, beating Greece 3-0 and following that up with a 2-1 victory over Hungary at the start of their 1980 campaign. However, even these remarkable successes did not help them in earning a berth in the final. In fact, like Faroe Islands, they have yet to make an appearance in the competition’s main fixtures. Their inconsistency is perhaps the pull factor that hinders them from making memorable spectacles. From their five most recent matches alone, they have recorded two wins, two draws, and one defeat.

Football betting tip: Finland will easily win against Faroe Islands.
