Hungary and Northern Ireland will meet for the first time since November of 2008, when they battled out in a friendly with the former eventually winning. In their two earlier matches, Hungary still finished as the stronger side.

Although they have already placed third and fourth in two Euro championships, Hungary have failed to make an appearance in the UEFA finals since 1976. At the Euro 2012, they only placed third in Group E qualifying, narrowly beaten by Sweden with five points although they managed to win six out of their 10 matches. In their recent showings, The Magical Magyars have earned substantial successes from their three latest friendlies: drawing with Denmark 2-2 and winning against Albania 1-0 and Kazakhstan 3-0. At the FIFA World Cup, they failed to fly to Brazil in spite of sealing off their final qualifying fixture with a win against Andorrra.

Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland had some promising matches in the Euro championship but so far, they have yet to see themselves playing in the finals of the competition. They came closest in the 1984 qualifying series when they defeated title holders West Germany home and away. At the World Cup, however, they already appeared thrice; the first in 1958 resulting in a quarter-final finish, the second in 1982 featuring a sensational 1-0 win against hosts Spain, and the third in 1986 when they only finished in the Group stage. In recent times, the Norn Iron were very clumsy on the pitch. In fact, they are winless in eight consecutive matches which include goalless losses to Chile, Uruguay, and Turkey in friendlies.

Online betting tip: Hungary will successfully convert scoring chances at the expense of Northern Ireland.
