Italy-Antonio Conte

Match Date: 09 September 2014

Venue: Ullevaal Stadion

The contenders

Norway

Since its qualification in the Group Stage in 2000, Norway has struggled to replicate such success in the years to come. The squad looks promising. But more often than not, it falls short in meeting its objectives.

In 2012, Norway had another chance to advance in the competition. Unfortunately, Portugal eventually destroyed them. It could have increased its qualifying chances if it only snatched a victory against Denmark. Yet, the latter forced them to settle for an even steven finish twice. Such results eventually crumbled all their hopes of replicating their 2000 feat.

Italy

Antonio Conte will try to build a new breed of Italian football as he begins his managerial career in the national team. The former Juventus head honcho was chosen to lead the squad when Cesare Prandelli resigned after a dismal World Cup performance.

Italy is already a heavy online betting favorite prior to Conte’s appointment. The squad is one of the most successful teams in the World Cup and has also snatched the European Championship trophy in 1968. But since dominating the tournament in the said year, the squad’s drive for another silverware seemed to decline.

But despite the decline, Italy remained a strong title contender. In 2012, the squad finished as the competition’s runners-up.

Possible head turner

Conte made a bold move in dropping the controversial striker, Mario Balotelli. Yet, tehre is nothing to worry as the duo of Ciro Immobile and Sebastian Giovinco shall give Italy the scoring attack that it needs.

What the odds say

In the sports betting site, 12BET, Italy is valued to win at a profitable odd of 1.95. s
