Draxler’s Injury Never Stops Schalke From Winning

Match preview: Schalke VS. Vfl Wolfsburg
Match date: 17 August 2013 (Local time)
Match venue: Volkswagen arena

Suffering from an injury, it is still uncertain if Schalke’s (The Royal Blues), Julian Draxler can make it to the Volkswagen arena. Nevertheless, Schalke remains a strong football betting favorite over rivals VfL Wolfsburg (Wolves).

Behind the injury
During the encounter against Hamburger, the Royal Blues’ 19-year old attacking midfielder set-up Klass-Jan Huntelaar for a scoring opportunity. Huntelaar delivered, yet a tackle with Tolgay Arslan resulted in a cut that eventually lead to a heel injury.

Dubbed as Bundesliga’s “wonder kid,” the young player scored 13 goals and 39 assists last season. At a tender age, Draxler has become a prominent figure in Schalke and contributed to the club’s Champions League rally.

With the above-mentioned injury, his absence might somewhat affect the Royal Blues’ performance on the pitch.

Yet, the idea of Draxler sitting on the bench, remains unconfirmed. Not until the attacking midfielder is seen not wearing his jersey, that is the time that the Wolves can slightly celebrate.

Schalke,  a complete team
Schalke is determined to repeat or exceed their performance last season. This explains the club’s bid to acquire the likes of Leon Goretzka, Christian Clemens and Adam Szalai.

In the event where Draxler’s recovery required more time, Keller has plenty of materials to work on.

What is left for Wolfsburg
Wolfsburg suffered a 2-0 defeat against Hannover last week. Their opponent kept a clean sheet and they have no other choice but to man up against Schalke. They have the home court advantage so they must capitalize on that.

Last season, the club finished on the 11th spot and was almost relegated. Such scenario is something that the Wolves must avoid.

However, in as much as the wolves want to get out of the mud, the Royal Blues also feel the same intensity. They never lost their previous battle, but they ended in a draw and with Schalke, determined to move up the table, winning is the only thing that they can think about.
