In the Champions League, betting tips and a whole bunch of other football-related materials often act as catalysts to heighten the energy in the competition. But those things can barely run close to the level of devotion supporters emanate for their favorite teams. When sides like Spanish perennial winners Barcelona and Dutch linchpins Ajax are put together in one single match, audiences go wild and celebrate a bout that is sure to display spectacles. On September 18, the same bonanza has to be expected as the aforesaid teams will indeed launch a tourney for their Champions League campaign.

La Liga defending champions and Spanish football betting favorites, Barcelona, have advanced to the semi-finals in seven of the last eight seasons of the Champions League. The successful streak is expected to continue in this year’s competition with new manager Gerardo Martino aiming to embark on a superlative journey for his maiden campaign for the highly anticipated European tournament. Scoring goals is not much of a worry for Barça as Lionel Messi—the record-breaking four-time Ballon d’Or winner and Champions League second all-time record scorer—is just around the corner to set the pitch on fire. Alexis Sanchez and Pedro Rodriguez are also just within the loop to help Messi pump up their sides’ score board.

The past Eredivisie season proved to be another Ajax domination, with the side bagging the highest title for three years in row. This has therefore given them sure ticket to participate in the group stage. While they had to confront a ‘group of death’ last term, Godenzonen are pretty confident that they will do better this year. Top player De Jong is a genius attacker, able to deliver great maneuvers in the midfield as well as up front. Kolbeinn Sigþórsson is also excellent at scoring behind the net, having scored cumulative 17 goals from the past three Eredivisie seasons. In addition, coach Frank de Boer is prepping new drills to further improve his side’s stint in the Champions League.

Prediction: Barcelona and Ajax are both intrepid warriors, but the Spanish players are just too strong to be overtaken. This battle will surely please supporters with impressive displays, while consensus suggests that Barcelona will bring home the bacon.
