Match Date: 23 April 2014 (local time)

Venue: Estadio Santiago Bernabéu

Trapped in their own private hell, Real Madrid and Bayern Munchen are confronted by major issues, which could thwart their Champions League campaign. Bayern struggles with its current form, whilst it remains uncertain if Cristiano Ronaldo can play during the first leg.

Bayern’s top brass has been vocal in expressing his sentiments regarding Bayern’s present performances. For quite some time, the club dominated Germany’s top-flight league only to find itself struggling at the end of the season. Defending the title instilled a sense of complacency, which resulted to a draw against Hoffenheim and consecutive defeats against Augsburg and Borussia Dortmund.

Guardiola stressed that such form and lackluster performance may prevent them from retaining their title as European King. He added that the squad is in dire need of improvement to advance in the latter stage of the competition.

Bayern’s degrading display gives the Los Blancos a reason to celebrate. They can use the opportunity to exploit their home court advantage. And while it is true that Guardiola knows Real Madrid like the back of his hands, his previous strategies may no longer work as plenty has changed since Carlos Ancelotti’s arrival.

Unfortunately, Real Madrid might be missing its talismanic striker and 2013 FIFA Ballon  d’ Or  awardee, Cristiano Ronaldo. The latter currently suffers from a muscle injury in his left thigh. He is expected to be sidelined for 2 weeks and will already miss the Copa del Rey final match against Barcelona.

With the high degree of intensity present in the said match and with both clubs deserving to be named as the match’s online betting favorite, there is a possibility for the encounter to end in an even steven finish.
