Bundesliga Preview: Köln vs. Borussia Dortmund

Updated: October 15, 2014

Match Date: 18 October 2014 (local time)

Venue: RheinEnergie Stadion

Köln and Borussia Dortmund both suffered a humiliating defeat during their last encounter. Considering how close they were to success, one can only imagine the disappointment they felt. Given this aspect at hand, one can expect a head-to-head fight as the two equally aggressive squads try to outlast each other.

The contenders

A crucial error from Kevin Wimer denied Koln the crucial 3 points during their battle against Frankfurt. The squad took an early lead and even pulled off an equalizer that could have ended the match in a stalemate, but a single mistake was enough to destroy the club’s aspirations during the said match.

Nevertheless, Koln proved that they are not just mere push-overs of the current competition—they can also feature and dominate as long as they observe consistency in their performances.

Borussia Dortmund

The strong online betting favorite, Borussia Dortmund, dropped to the 13th spot of the Bundesliga table following its narrow defeat to Hamburg. The club had a poor start this season and it seems that their current struggles see no end.

However, there is still hope for the title contender. Several of its injured key players such as Marco Reus, Ikay Gundogan and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are said to make a grand comeback when they visit Koln.

Possible head turner

If the above-mentioned Dortmund players will indeed play, one can expect a stronger and more ferocious Borrusia Dottmund on the pitch.
