Mainz 05’s recent victory over Borussia Dortmund gives them the confidence to face an aggressive Eintracht Frankfurt. As one of the league’s surprising table toppers, Mainz is keen on retaining its status as one of Bundesliga’s elite.

However, Mainz cannot afford to be too complacent. Frankfurt did an upset against Schalke and they are also eager to secure the necessary points to strengthen their campaign.

The contenders

Eintracht Frankfurt

There is no doubt that Frankfurt did an impressive job when they contained Schalke 04. They were far from being a heavy favorite of online betting sites, but they were able to outlast a club that is perceived to be stronger than they were.

Frankfurt currently sits on the 12th spot of the table and has 2 draws, a win and a loss to boot. The squad has no plans of showing that they are a mere push-over and will definitely push Mainz to the limits.  But they have to deal with several injury issues. Constant Djakpa, for one, will not make it.

Mainz 05

Currently sitting on the 2nd spot of the table, Mainz ensures that the club will not be easy on Frankfurt.

Against Dortmund, the club snatched  a seemingly easy win inspired by Shinji Okazaki. Okazaki gave Mainz the lead. Whilst there are attempts to equalize, the Borussians failed to deliver. Ciro Immobile was unable to capitalize on a penalty and Matthias Ginter scored a penalty, thus allowing Mainz to get the crucial 3 points.

Possible head turners

Marco Russ and Alexander Meier were clinical during the Schalke encounter. The unstoppable duo could make the difference for Frankfurt. Their impressive performances are also one of the reasons behind the profitability of going for Frankfurt, which is valued to win at 2.92.
