Borussia Monchengladbach

Match Date: 25 August 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stadion im Borussia-Park

Borussia Monchengladbach must aspire for a Champions league qualification after their impressive run last season. The club was just 6 points short of ensuring a spot in the said tournament if not for its disappointing blunders during the season’s last leg.

On the other hand, VfB Stuttgart is relieved that it survived the relegation even if it means finishing on the 15th spot. This means that it can make a brand new start and hopefully, bury its frustrating past.

The contenders

Borussia Monchengladbach

The Foals is already a strong squad. Yet, they cannot afford to remain in such state. This season, they need to be stronger should they want to play in a bigger tournament. The club readily shows a huge potential to be one of the biggest names in Europe most especially if its talent pool is maximized.

Recently, Gladbach acquired the dynamic Fabian Jonhson to add more oomph to the squad. Johnson will be playing alongside with Raffael and Max Kruse.

VfB Stuttgart

Stuttgart welcomes a fresh start in its campaign this season. As mentioned, the squad dabbled with relegation, which was quite unlikely for the club that once dominated Germany’s top-flight league.

But hopes are high at the Mercedes-Benz Arena as Armin Veh, the man who brought Stuttgart to the pinnacle of success will be managing the club once again.

Possible head turners

Johnson will need to get use to all the attention this season. A renown member of USA’s national team, many expect him to help Gladbach up the ante of their performance. As for Stuttgart, Veh is not the sole scene-stealer of the club. Many are also expecting Vedad Ibisevic to feature after serving  a 5-match ban, which caused a drop in his performance.

What the odds say

In as far as the odds’ online betting favorite is concerned, this role definitely goes to Gladbach. The club is valued to win at 1.71 while sharing an Asian handicap of 0-0.5.
