The opening season of Bundesliga will catapult forces from Germany’s strongest football armies. Two of them, Augsburg and Borussia Dortmund, are slated to display their most compelling routines to advance to the succeeding rounds. The tourney will take place on August 10 at Augsburg’s home court, SGL arena.

April 6 of the last Bundesliga season marked a saccharine victory for Dortmund, having its competitors, Augsburg, fall prey to its imposing pitch poundings. The match resulted in a 4-2 goal score, after an impressive second half comeback in a match otherwise initially seen as Fuggerstädter’s territory.

Augsburg, however, may not necessarily look at the match in the shade. While they did secure a halftime lead, Die Borussen did not play with their top-notch starters, allowing Augsburg to quickly move on to the next one. The Markus Weinzierl-led side nearly succumbed toward relegation, but thanks to good follow-up drills, they managed to shun the bottom spot in the League table.

Looking at their recent Club Friendlies with other teams, Dortmund seems to be climbing the higher ladder. Jürgen Klopp’s men were defeated by Mönchengladbach with a one-goal lead but managed to secure landslide wins in the previous matches. These include an impressive 1-4 final score against Luzern, a similar figure against Bursaspor, and a 1-3 tally against Basel.

Augsburg’s friendly matches were a bit out of shape. They may have won over Monaco with a 1-0 mark but they waned in their tourney with Greuther Fürth 2-1. They secured a draw with Heidenheim 1-1, though.

Weinzierl’s squad has to muster more adrenaline fuels if they aim to thrive in the Bundesliga opening. Otherwise, Dortmund will unquestionably blow the competition away.
