Match Preview: Augsburg vs. Borussia Monchengladbach

Match Date: 27 September 2013 (local time)

Venue: SGL Arena

Bundesliga Betting TipWith both clubs refusing to throw the white towel, a draw is the best possible result that could happen in this match.

Coming off a major victory against Braunschweig, Borussia Monchengladbach brings in the confidence of a champion when they face Augsburg. Their ability to devise and convert scoring opportunities was evident when they thrashed Braunschweig with 4 goals.

However, they cannot be too overconfident since Augsburg is also a strong force to reckon with. Currently, Augsburg’s defeat to Hannover gives the Foals a slight edge into the match. But the latter cannot be too complacent.

In terms of team form, their last 5 matches produced similar results. Due to this, there is a strong possibility for the match to end in a stalemate.

The Verdict:  A draw

Both Augsburg and Borussia Monchengaldbach sport 3 wins and 3 losses during their last 6 matches. The difference, however, is Borussia Monchengaldbach’s momentum. However, it should be noted that that the club has been quite unsuccessful in its away matches. As a matter of fact, the Foals have conceded at least 2 goals during their away battles.

Given this aspect at hand, there is no doubt that Augsburg will try to capitalize on such opportunity since they are the strongest when they play at home. To note, both clubs have already accumulated 9 points. The Foals rank better only because of goal difference,
Expect both clubs to fight tooth and nail in order to survive this season’s challenges. A draw is more likely possible as both clubs try to maintain their spot in Bundesliga.

Match Preview: Borussia Dortmund vs. Freiburg

Match Date: 28 September 2013 (local time)

Venue: Signal Iduna Park

Bundesliga Betting TipBorussia Dortmund shall try to reclaim its honor and glory after losing to Napoli in the Champions League and ending in a draw against Nurnberg—and all of these efforts are at the expense of Freiburg.

Dortmund seems to have troubles getting over their Champions League defeat to Napoli. The lackluster performance was evident when minnows, Nurnberg forced them to a draw.

Despite dominating possession and having more scoring opportunities, the club had problems with conversion. Marcel Shmelzer’s shot was the club’s only goal and whether it was because of sheer luck or pure lapse of judgment, Nurnberg’s per Nilsson threw the club’s equalizer.
On the other hand, Freiburg settled a draw against another Bundesliga giant, Hertha Berlin. They are definitely the match’s minnow with 3 losses and 3 draws another their belt. But they are not the ordinary underdogs, they have managed to force a draw not only to Hertha Berlin, but also to Bayern Munich.

The Verdict: Dortmund to win by 2 goals

Dortmund is expected to dominate possession in the match. But there is also the possibility for Freiburg to score that last minute equalizer.

Nevertheless, Dortmund can depend on their home wins where they won 8 out of their 10 last matches.

Freiburg, on the other hand has lost their last 7 matches. Up against Dortmund, they might again, force a draw. Yet, knowing how strong Dortmund is, perhaps Freiburg can settle in the sidelines first.

Match Preview: Hertha Berlin vs. Mainz 05

Match Date: 28 September 2013 (local time)

Venue: Olympiastadion Berlin

Bundesliga Betting TipAfter a flashy start, Hertha Berlin experiences a slowdown. But perhaps this is nothing but temporary as the club is prepared to deliver a fulfilling victory in front of its loyal crowd.

The Old Lady needs to show its consistency in form. After thrashing Frankfurt, it seems like the club is having a hard time collecting more victories. Just recently, it suffered 2 consecutive losses. Its encounter against Freiburg showed some improvement where they forced a draw.

However, if there is one thing evident in Hertha Berlin’s performance, this is the fact that they are slowly slipping down the table.

The same thing can be said to Mainz 05. The latter just had its 3 consecutive losses and it is up for a downward trend. Mainz 05 needs to maintain its momentum and get back to its brilliant form long before collecting victories become a cumbersome task.

The Verdict: Hertha Berlin returns in the winning scene

Mainz 05’s current form hardly speaks of victory. Aside from being defeated thrice, the club has also conceded at least 2 goals during their most recent matches. Should Hertha Berlin engage into a scoring spree, they can easily take advantage of this scenario knowing that they are playing in their own territory.

Match Preview: Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Hamburger SV

Match Date: 28 September 2013 (local time)

Venue: Commerzbank Arena

Bundesliga Betting Tip – Sporting 2 victories under its belt, Frankfurt is in a much better form to secure another triumph than Hamburger SV.

The Eagles have another opportunity to improve its rank in Bundesliga when it faces the Red Shorts this Saturday. Currently occupying the 13th spot, the club has won twice, defeated twice and recently, forced a draw.
Against VfB Stuttgart, the Eagles created several scoring opportunities that could have enabled them to clinch the victory. They dominated the possession, yet, they failed to convert. This explains why they need to settle for a draw for now.

Compared to its upcoming rival (Hamburger SV), the Eagles’ past performances are more satisfactory. Hamburger is already lingering in the relegation zone and out of its 6 last matches, they have only won once. Four (4) of them resulted to disappointing losses while its matchday one ended in a draw.

The Verdict: Frankfurt to score 2 goals

Frankfurt has no reason to lose this match. They shall be playing in their own ground and this alone, guarantees their momentum and (dominance).

It is also important to note that out of the last 6 encounters of the two, Frankfurt has won half of it, scoring at least 2 goals.

Match Preview: Bayer Leverkusen vs. Hannover 96

Match Date: 28 September 2013 (local time)

Venue: Bay Arena

Bundesliga Betting Tip – Expect a down the wire match as Bayer Leverkusen and Hannover 96 try to outlast each other. At stake is a sure spot in Bundesliga’s top 3 and a possible silverware at the end of the season.

A giant face-off is about to happen between Bayer and Hannover 96. Both clubs are competing to be in the league’s elite 5 and neither of the two will submit easily.

Bayer is ahead with just a single loss and 5 wins. On the other hand, Hannover trails by 4 wins and 2 losses.

In terms of the accumulated points, Bayer has 15 whilst Hannover has 12.

The Verdict:  Bayer seals a narrow win

Although it can be easily dismissed that the match will end in a draw, it is evident that Bayer’s current form shall prevent it from happening.

Based on their last 6 encounters, Hannover has only won once whereas 3 of them favored Bayer. The latter has also secured victory in 10 of its 11 matches while Hannover was unsuccessful in 20 of its 25 away matches.

Perhaps if there is one thing that will force Bayer to go down to its knees, this is no other than fatigue. The club is also battling for its campaign in the Champions League and if the loss against Manchester United was devastating enough, they might easily crumble like a house of cards.

Other than that, there is no reason for them to lose. But neither should they expect a bed of roses as Hannover is determined to fight tooth and nail to secure this victory.

Match Preview: Bayern München vs. Wolfsburg

Match Date: 28 September 2013 (local time)

Venue: Allianz Arena

Bundesliga Betting Tip Despite the injuries, Bayern München thrashed Schalke. The club shall be bringing such winning form when they meet Wolfsburg at home and eventually steal the league’s top spot from Borussia Dortmund.

Thrashing the Royal Blues with 4 goals to nil, the Bavarians is in a perfect form when they meet Wolfsburg. The upcoming victory meant a chance to the incumbent champ to take the driver’s seat away from renowned rival, Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern have had a series of successive triumphs. In the Champions League, the club dominated the match against CSKA Moscow where it scored 3 goals. Back in Bundesliga, the same degree of dominance was presented during the encounter with Schalke 04.

The match witnessed an aggressive and fast-paced Bayern, which nailed 2 goals in 2 minutes—thanks to Bastian Schweisteiger and Mario Mandzukic. Franck Ribéry and Claudio Pizarro added more damage when they scored the match’s last 2 goals.
Meanwhile, Wolfsburg is also coming from a hard-fought win against Hoffenheim. It took them quite some time before Ivica Olic answered Anthony Modeste’s goal for Hoffenheim during the 15th minute. Nevertheless, Olic’s heroic deed during the 48th sealed their opponent’s coffin.

The Verdict: Bayern 3-1 Wolfsburg

Although both clubs are in a euphoric state and display an impressive form, the odds remain in favor of the Bavarians.

The club can hardly lose in their territory. As a matter of fact, an average of 2 goals have been made in 10 of its 11 home matches. Furthermore, they have managed to keep a clean sheet in 5 of their last 6 home matches.

Wolfsburg remains a contender, though. They can take advantage of Mario Goetze and Javi Martinez’s absence in the pitch. But they cannot be too sure. The two were already out during the Schalke battle and still, the Bavarians claimed their victory.

Match Preview: Hoffenheim vs. Schalke 04

Match Date: 28 September 2013 (local time)

Venue: Wirsol Rhein-Neckar-Arena

Bundesliga Betting TipHoffenheim looks forward to adding another victory under its belt as it meets the struggling Schalke at home.

Schalke 04 suffered a major beating when the Bavarians kept them at bay in their own ground. Down by 4 goals, not even the likes of Kevin Prince Boateng and Farfan pulled off a single goal against Bayern’s tough defence wall. This has been the 3rd defeat of the club, which is now in danger of falling into the relegation.

Hoffenheim also had its taste of defeat under Wolfsburg’s hands. But thanks to Anthony Modeste, the club has managed to score once. Unlike Schalke, the match’s result was just the 2nd loss of the club.

The Verdict: Hoffenheim 1-0 Schalke 04

With 2 victories apiece, it is easy to say that the match shall end in a draw. However, a closer look into their past performance shows that Hoffenheim is in a much better form.

During their last 6 matches, the club drew twice, lost twice and won twice. This is in stark contrast to Schalke, where defeats dominated the club’s last 6 matches. It is  quite disappointing that Schalke’s game has been readily affected by the absence of injured Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
