Venue: Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion

VfB Stuttgart’s president, Bernd Wahler has all the reasons to describe this season as a “brutal one.”

The club suffered another major blow as they lost their match to Borussia Dortmund. It was its second consecutive loss and so far, it has only snatched a single win during its last 6 matches.

It is still unclear if the poor performance has something to do with Vedad Ibisevic’s 5-match ban. His absence left the Stuttgart without a reliable finisher. But then again, Ibisevic is not the sole striker in the squad. In as far as their last 6 matches are concerned, none of them showed that they have scoring problems. Even in encounters where they lost, Stuttgart was able to pull off a goal.

Perhaps the problem is not really the absence of a striker, but the lack of playmaking creativity to unfold scoring opportunities. Or maybe if there are enough opportunities, it has something to do with being more clinical—being able to convert when the right timing comes.

Stuttgart’s defence is also in a vulnerable state. It has conceded an average of 2 goals in its last 14 matches.

With all the mishaps that Stuttgart encountered, it is not surprising to see it as a strong relegation candidate.
Stuttgart’s upcoming match is pitted against SC Freiburg. Freiburg is also struggling for its survival. But unlike them, it has a better team form to be proud of. As a matter of fact, Freiburg is the match’s online betting favorite.

Despite the almost predictable result, still, it is always great to anticipate a possible upset.
