Kiessling of Bayer Leverkusen celebrates his goal against Hamburger SV during their German first division Bundesliga soccer match in Leverkusen

Match Date: 04 April 2014 (local time)

Venue: HSH Nordbank Arena

The pressure is on to Bayer Leverkusen’s head honcho, Sami Hyypia as his side faces the struggling Hamburg SV. Speculations have it that the ex-Liverpool skipper is at risk of being sacked if they lose their upcoming match this weekend.

The 2nd half of the season has not been great for Hyypia. After outranking Borussia Dortmund, the squad succumbed into a losing streak that made them slip into the 4th spot of the Bundesliga table.

Bayer managed to end the losing streak though, but after being forced to a draw by the minnow, Braunschweig, the club is at risk of losing its Champions League qualifying spot to Wolfsburg.

Nevertheless, Rudi Voller insisted that the management has no plans of letting Hyypia go. The club’s sporting director stressed that such measure should have been pursued if they felt that Hyypia is incapable of improving the club. He added that the manager is currently going through a “learning process” as he still lacks the experience to handle “club crisis.”

Meanwhile, there is a strong possibility for Hamburg to exploit Bayer’s current situation. Like Hyypia, the squad is also under fire due to its lackluster performances. With the loss to Borussia Monchengladbach and with relegation worries to attend to, Hamburg is more than willing to fight tooth and nail in order to survive this season.

Prediction: Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer needs to keep their focus for them to keep their spot in the Champions League qualifiers. The club has been successful in their last 3 matches against Hamburg and so it is not surprising to see them as outright online betting favorite of the match. Bayer is valued to win at 1.89 in 12BET while rendering an Asian handicap of 0-0.5.
