Match Preview: VFB Stuttgart vs Bayer Leverkusen
Match date: 17 August 2013 (local time)
Venue: Mercedes-Benz Arena

Despite VfB Stutgart’s (The Reds) home court advantage, Bundesliga betting tips, pick Bayer Leverkusen (Werkself) as heavy favorites in their much anticipated face-off in the Mercedes-Benz-Arena this coming 17 August 2013.

It is never too hard to understand why Werkself stand as favorite given their past performance. By virtue of goal difference, they currently occupy the 3rd spot, along with German treble title holder, Bayern Munchen.

Yet, rankings are purely ephemeral. They change weekly and in spite of such seemingly weather-like nature of Bundesliga, there is enough reason to believe and trust on Werkself’s strength.

Previous encounter
Last season saw their first encounter ended in a draw. It was a literal face-off between The Reds’ Vedad Ibisevic and Werkelf’s Stefan Kießling, with both players scoring 2 goals each.

But early this year, their next battle favored Werkelf when it launched a late rally that eventually ended in a 2-1 triumph.

Current performance
VfB Stuttgart
The Reds just had its first taste of defeat this season. Still. Ibisevic was a prominent figure in the team’s scoring. Just 2 minutes after Nicolai Müller scored the match’s first goal, he immediately rallied for a successful equalizer. Martin Harnik clinched the next goal, but, unfortunately, the club ran out of time.

Apparently, fatigue started to take its toll on the Reds. The club just forced a draw against Botve Plovdiv in UEFA’s Europa League qualifying round. With only two (2) days left to rest and prepare, the defeat was nothing to be ashamed of.

The bigger question in this context is whether the club can cope with Werkelf’s tempo, knowing that they are still high with their most recent winning performance.

Bayer Leverkusen
Werkelf is off to a good start this season. The club almost thrashed SC Freiburg and there is no doubt that they will try to replicate the victory. What is even more dangerous is the fact that Heung- Min Son’s arrival added a scoring force into the club.

The Heung-Min Son-Stefan Kießling duo, combined with Sami Hyypiä’s 4-4-1-1 worked well for the club.

With their stellar maneuver in the pitch and the possibility of being one of the league’s most celebrated dark horses, Werkelf shall not waste the opportunity to gain the match’s upper-hand.
