Venue: Weser Stadion

Team Form

Augsburg

Tagged as Bundesliga’s new force, Augsburg proved that they can be one of the contenders in the European competition next season.

Recently, the club catapulted to the 8th spot of the table after thrashing Stuttgart with a 1-4 victory. Just two (2) points short of securing a sure spot in the Europa League qualification, the club sees no reason for not making it as one of the league’s elite clubs. The above-mentioned victory extended their 5-match streak where they all earned positive results. Currently, they sport an unbeaten 6-match run.

Giving them more advantage is their strong home form where they were also undefeated in their last four (4) matches. Although pitted against the relegated prone, Nurnberg, never expect Augsburg to downplay their opponents as they are keen on presenting a more spectacular performance.

Nurnberg

Quite the contrary of what is expected, it was Nurnberg, which had the limelight during the Bavarian derby. Despite the defeat, which pushed them to the relegation zone, Der Club stood out as they gave the mighty Bayern Munchen a hard time securing a win.

Nurnberg’s aggressive opening almost tainted Bayern’s untainted record that if not for Mario Mandzukic and Philipp Lahm’s goals, the Bundesliga giant could have easily crumbled. With the said performance, Nurnberg is said to have “unearthed” Bayern’s weaknesses.

Unfortunately, was not without any (casualties). Two (2) of their key players Daniel Ginczek and Timothy Chandler will be sidelined after suffering knee injuries during the derby.

Nurnberg’s loss to Bayern Munchen was their first loss during their last six (6) matches.

Prediction:  Augsburg

Apart from the home court advantage, Augsburg may readily capitalize on Nurnberg’s injury issues. Yet, they cannot be too complacent as Nurnberg almost triumphed over Bayern Munchen. It is highly possible for Nurnberg to force a draw.
