Ajaccio vs. Rennes Preview: Tough Relegation Battles Await Ajaccio And Rennes

Rennes visit Stade Francois-Coty in an attempt to move farther away from the relegation zone. Yet, their deteriorating away form might prevent them from securing a crucial victory against a determined Ajaccio. It is for this reason that football betting tips predict a stalemate in the match.

Match Date: 08 February 2014 (local time)
Venue: Stade Francois-Coty

Team Form

Ajaccio had to endure its second consecutive draw under the hands of Evian Thonon Gaillard. The even steven finish prevented the club  to take advantage on the opportunity to score extra points and get out of the relegation zone.

With only eleven (11) points, Ajaccio’s future is in danger. They have not won a single match during their last six (6) encounters and have only once during the whole season. Evdiently, the absence of having a steady manager, coupled with injury issues have been causing tons of problems for the squad.

Pitted against Rennes, the club gets another chance to save themselves from the relegation and perhaps playing in their own territory might give them the boost they need.

Cédric Hountondji’s early goal triggered Rennes’ scoring momentum, which eventually brought them to the needed victory. With the said win, the club currently sits two (2) notches away from the relegation zone.

Rennes’ recent form is short of being impressive. The club has only won once in their last six (6) matches. Fortunately, they have managed to force draws against Nice, Lille and Evian Thonon Gaillard wherein they were able to score some points.

Rennes, however, has been unsuccessful in their last five (5) away matches. Such places them into a compromising scenario against the minnow Ajaccio since there is no assurance that they can break their losing spell outside their territory.

Prediction:  Draw

As the battle in the relegation zone intensifies, expect both squads to engage in a down the wire match.  Ajaccio might go for another draw, if they cannot ensure a win against the visitors.  Meanwhile, Rennes’ poor away form is their Achilles heel. The slightest mistake might force them to settle for a stalemate, or worse, a frustrating defeat.
