Saint Etienne- Week 13

Reims vs. Lille

Match Date: 09 November 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stade Auguste Delaune

Reims was fortunate enough to force a scoreless stalemate against a rampaging AS Monaco in their recent encounter. The squad found it difficult to generate points until the 80th minute when Benjamin Moukandjo scored the equalizer.

Despite collecting just a mere point, it was enough for Reims to move up to the 13th spot of the Ligue 1 table.

A certified sports betting favorite, Lille’s winless streak continued last week. After three (3) consecutive losses, a draw was the best result that the club could pulled-off during its match against Saint Etienne.

Because of the said result, the club dropped to the mid-table, which was a far-flung shot from what it has achieved last season.

Saint Etienne

Saint Etienne manifested a great footballing display against Lille last week and with how the two clubs played, perhaps it is only fitting for the match to end in a stalemate.

Lille got into the lead early when Michael Frey scored its first goal. But Saint Etienne’s Max Gradel reacted on the 60th minute to secure the equalizer. The remaining minutes became more exciting as the squads prevented each other from scoring the winning goal.

The first attempt came from Lille’s Divock Origi. Yet, Saint Etienne’s Stephane Ruffier was able to salvage that one.

Max Gradel also had the chance to steal the spotlight for Saint Etienne during the dying minutes of the game. Unfortunately, the prolific Vincent Enyeama was quick to react and displayed a great save.

Indeed, it could have been Monaco’s 6th win this season, yet, everything broke down to pieces when Reims netted a late equalizer. Such could have a big blow to the squad’s morale. Yet, they could also use it to inspire them to facilitate a winning performance.
