La Liga Team Review: Real Madrid

Real Madrid-International Champions cup

Atletico Madrid’s rise in Spain’s top-flight league readily displaced Atletico Madrid in the title quest. It also hampered their chances of winning the treble as they also won the Copa del Rey silverware and the Champions League trophy.

Despite its shortcomings, Real Madrid’s performance remains impressive. The talked-about signing of Gareth Bale did not go into waste as the former Tottenham star settled easily at Santiago Bernabéu. His presence added more attacking power to the squad. This is in stark contrast to assumptions that he will be Cristiano Ronaldo’s shadow striker. Likewise, the French poacher, Karim Benzema proved to be one of the club’s unstoppable scoring machines.

But if there is any investment which readily delivered dividends to the Los Blancos, it was the signing of Carlos Ancelotti. The latter’s tactical acumen revamped and improved the already spectacular Real Madrid.

Match to remember

As if beating the defending Champions League titleholder and sports betting favorite, Bayern Munich, was not enough, Real Madrid went even further when they clinched the silverware against another La Liga club, Atletico Madrid.

Match to forget

Snatching the title last season was a tough one for Real Madrid. But their chances slowly faded away as they suffered two (2) consecutive draws into the hands of Valencia and Valladolid. The title bid became even more impossible when they bowed down to Celta Vigo.

The scene-stealers

It may be hard to disregard Ronaldo into the picture as the Portuguese superstar always feature in matches, which he participated. However, to disregard Benzema and Bale’s contributions is plain unjust and unfair.

Latest Additions

Real Madrid just acquired two (2) World Cup stunners this season: Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez. To have them in the squad just made the Los Blancos an inch closer to being invincible.
