Barcelona- Week 12 recap

Week highlights

The past week witnessed the coronation of a new football king and this is no other than the spectacular Lionel Messi.

Scoring a hat-trick to help Barcelona snatched a 5-1 win against Sevilla, Messi snatched his 253rd goal and became La Liga’s top scorer. At 27, he surpassed Telmo Zarra’s 251 goals and he is expected to collect more points in the seasons to come.

Despite the said win though, Barcelona still trails Real Madrid in the league table. The Los Blancos  currently hold a 2-point lead, which they must overcome should they want to reclaim the title.

They also need to deal with the defending champion, Atletico Madrid, which slowly closes in the title race. After a shaky start, Diego Simeone and his men are definitely back with a vengeance.

Scene-stealers

There’s only one scene-stealer last week and this was no other than the man himself, Lionel Messi. His form may have been criticized, but certainly, the talismanic striker knows when to pull off a major achievement.

The blunders

It’s almost the end of the season’s first half and Cordoba hasn’t won anything yet. The club is in dire need of improvements. Currently, it is evident that they are the top online betting pick to be relegated this season. They need a massive change should they want to retain their La Liga status or leave the top-flight league with a win.

What to expect

From this day on, Messi will be breaking his own record after outscoring Zarra. Many are of course, looking forward to the number of goals that the greatest football player could produce while he treads the earth.
