Two men gunned down Elche for their chance at survival in the Spanish top-flight league; Joao Miranda and Diego Costa scored the only goals in Los Franjiverdes’ match against frontrunners Atletico Madrid. The deficit meant that Fran Escribá’s men are marooned at 35 points to remain within the lower reaches of the table. The side recorded two defeats in a row, which came at the back of the clean sheet they obtained from Getafe and the draws they had against Athletic Club and Villarreal.

Levante only managed to pick up one point from their brawl against relegation-threatened Getafe. The sides engaged in a goalless encounter which saw both teams waste scoring opportunities. The draw counts as Les Granotes’ 11th this season and their 16th unproductive fixture overall.

Football betting tip: Elche and Levante will end their tourney in a deadlock.

Granada vs. Rayo Vallecano

Match Date: 26 April 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Estadio Los Cármenes

Granada’s win over Barcelona was dramatically surprising, but it seemed more of a lucky strike than a truly genuine work of talents. The side went back to their old, unappealing ways as they conceded four goals to their most recent rivals Sevilla. The goalless defeat meant that they still have chances at ending the season at or near the bottom. A repair in their defense and set-piece mechanisms would be crucial to keep them afloat of the drop zone.

Rayo are now within the top dozen and are eight points clear of the table’s most dangerous spots. The chance at securing Europe berths may no longer be plausible at this stage of the competition but they should nevertheless hope for another season in La Liga following the recent successes they had in the Spanish top-tier competition.

Sports betting tip: Granada will share the points with Rayo.
