Espanyol’s win over Malaga 2-1 was eclipsed by controversy rather than the feat itself. Pizzi delivered the winner (with Sergio Garcia and Pablo Perez scoring prior) but Malaga should have obtained a penalty—and perhaps, forced a draw instead—after Hector Moreno appeared to have acrobatically kick Roque Santa Cruz in the penalty area. Regardless of the event, the result meant Espanyol move on to 40 points and are just eight points short of a Europa League seeding.

It was a bittersweet evening for Barcelona at Camp Nou when they saw Neymar and Leo Messi score the winning goals over Celta Vigo at the expense of Victor Valdes—who suffered an acute knee injury which was serious enough that it could actually end the player’s Barca career and hinder him from appearing in the impending Brazil World Cup. The 3-0 victory, on a brighter side, indicates that the side are keeping the pressure on title rivals Atletico and Real Madrid. They are now only one point away from regaining the leadership.

Football betting tip: In spite of the injury they endured, Barcelona are still slated to win over Espanyol.

Celta Vigo vs. Sevilla FC

Match Date: 29 March 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Estadio Balaídos

Celta Vigo and Sevilla were both faced of tremendous challenge from their most recent matches as they played opposite title chasers Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively. In an ironic turn of events, only one of these sides emerged successful. Celta were heavily trounced by Barca in a three-goal clean sheet while Sevilla surprisingly took the lead as they beat Real Madrid with a brace from Carlos Bacca. The results gave Os Celticos a three-point deficit to stagnate at number 12 while the Sevillistas are now on their way to achieving a Champions League qualifying berth.

Sports betting tip: Sevilla will create plenty of scoring chances and eventually dominate the scoring over Celta Vigo.
