Espanyol, while ranking in the upper half, are still eight points away from securing berth in the Europa League. The current ninth placers were also the latest preys to fall victim of Atletico Madrid’s sharp talons. None of Javier Aguirre’s men―including goalkeeper Kiko Casilla―were able to prevent Diego Costa from finding the net as he rallied toward the victory with only one goal needed to seal it off. This left the Periquitos without any choice but to incur the deficit and get locked at 36 points.

Like Espanyol, Levante also lost their chance to add three more points to their score as they were trounced by Celta Vigo 1-0 at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia on weekend. The result came after a previous disaster which they obtained from Real Madrid 3-0. With these back-to-back defeats, Joaquín Caparrós’ men almost dwindled from the league’s top 10.

Online betting tip: Espanyol will earn all three points but the win will be very narrow.

Real Valladolid vs. Rayo Vallecano

Match Date: 22 March 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Estadio Nuevo José Zorrilla

Real Valladolid were shattered to pieces after they were stolen of four goals by and lost all points to Sevilla 4-1. They started gaining back their confidence (and belief) in the league when they obtained a much-needed win from title favorites Barcelona 1-0 in their previous battle but that self-assurance was immediately put to a hiatus with the said frustrating result. It made them still a few points adrift of safety.

Rayo Vallecano are having a good chunk of a solid streak with their three most recent matches all ending in victories. The were in the drop zone for several weeks but team top brass Paco Jémez might have finally found the right formula to re-establish Los Franjirrojos as a major top-tier threat. They are now three points clear of relegation, thanks to the accomplishments they achieved against Valencia, Real Sociedad, and Almeria.

Football betting tip: In spite of their recent successes, Vallecano will drop two points from this fixture and hold Real Valladolid in a thrilling draw.
