Celta Vigo have solidified their bid for a La Liga survival with a narrow but reasonably essential win at Levante 1-0. Nolito was the only player to post a score in the match’s entirety with a powerful strike in the 19th minute. That said, the side successfully put their opponents at bay in the second half, with Levante’s David Barral losing his chance of a penalty and then having a shot blocked on the goal-line by Celta goalkeeper Yoel Rodriguez. Os Celticos remain in the midtable with their points now increased to 33.

Despite their potential at earning ‘easy’ wins at lower-ranked squads (such as Osasuna), Malaga are not yet that ready to display explosives once they are pitted with true superpowers. The club lost all points from their brawl against title chasers Real Madrid, and it only took one man—Cristiano Ronaldo―to finish the job successfully. At this stage of the competition, Los Boquerones remain heavily challenged with poor skills in possession and defending set pieces.

Football betting tip: Celta Vigo could thump Malaga in a clean sheet.

Granada vs. Elche

Match Date: 22 March 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Estadio Los Cármenes

Both Granada and Elche have some concerns to address, particularly on issues surrounding their players’ health. Granada will have to maximize their workforce with three players on the bench (Piti, Tiago Ilori, and Ighalo) and more so for Elche who currently have five men sidelined (Albacar, Niguez, Sapunaru, Tono, and Gimenez). The side are currently ranked at numbers 12 and 13, respectively.

The squads’ past five matches were mostly stalemates, with Granada being the only side to gain some sizable points albeit only one time. El Grana have almost equal winning odds as Los Franjiverdes especially that they share even weaknesses in finishing scoring chances and defending against long shots.

Sports betting tip: This tourney will again see the sides sharing the points.
