Although Real Madrid have historically been more successful than Villarreal (and indeed, the majority of La Liga participants), the hosts are making a good league fight in the current season. The sides are only two places apart and Madrid are ahead just by one point.

Villarreal

Villarreal’s past four matches in all competitions have given them two wins and two draws. Celtic and Rayo Vallecano both succumbed to El Submarino Amarillo in a club friendly and La Liga, respectively.  Granada and Borussia M’glabach, meanwhile, were able to force a draw with the side in the Primera Division and in the Europa League, correspondingly. They currently rank just outside the UEFA spots in the Spanish top-flight league and there is still a room for improvement in their defense and more importantly, in the attack.

Real Madrid

Perennial title chasers entered the new season with a clean sheet victory against newly promoted Cordoba. However, the next two weeks were dramatic nightmares for the squad as they they have lost all the spoils to fellow powerhouses Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid. Not long enough, a highly spectacular 2-8 away win at Deportivo La Coruña seemed to have buried the embarrassment that Los Blancos have incurred in the previous weeks—thanks largely to the hat-trick by Ronaldo, braces from Bale and Chicharito, and a first-half goal by Rodriguez. Most recently, they again managed to prove the monstrous talents that they truly are after they trounced Elche in a 5-1 home triumph.

Sports betting tip: Real Madrid will score their third consecutive league win at the expense of Villarreal.
