Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad made their chance for a Champions League berth even bigger their distance from La Liga’s top four has now been reduced to four points following a 1-0 battering of relegation-haunted Malaga.

Carlos Vela’s first-half goal made the match’s decision as the side recorded only their second win in their last six league matches—but one that pushed them forward within touching distance of fourth-placed Athletic Bilbao. Txuri-urdin created the better start at La Rosaleda and Haris Seferovic and Vela had already posed threats to Malaga before the latter put the visitors ahead.

Lionel Messi climbed into third place of the all-time La Liga scoring charts with a double goal he scored from their showdown against Rayo Vallecano 6-0. Adriano Correia opened the scoring only two minutes from time, doubled by Messi in the 36th, tripled by Sanchez in the 53rd, and quadrupled by Pedro in the 56th. Messi scored his second in 68th minute while Neymar rallied late to ship a sixth and final goal one minute into full-time.

Barca are back to the table’s top, although they are in a three-way tie with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in terms of points. They lead the entire pack with the largest number of goals scored, leaving them with a gigantic goal difference of 52—eight goals more than their current runners up.

Football betting tip: This clash between Sociedad and Barcelona will prove to be a thriller, although the visitors are in a more considerable advantage of bringing home the bacon than their hosts. Expect both sides deliver goals, with Barca eventually dominating the tally.
