Rayo were the latest of Barcelona’s victims of a highly aggressive campaign for the leadership. The side were mauled on a 6-0 away defeat at the Camp Nou on weekend, finding themselves thrust with a three-point deficit to keep themselves within the terrors of the relegation zone. Still pinned with 20 points, Franjirrojos should move mountains and consider every plausible opportunity in order for them to rise above their current situation.

Paco Jémez’s men had difficulty in both their attack and goalkeeping. Barca were extremely agile, finding opportunities numerous times and denying Ruben of saving six goals—which were fired by Correia, Sanchez, Pedro, Neymar, and Messi, the latter netting twice and achieving a milestone in La Liga’s all-time scoring chart.

After obtaining a goalless draw with Valencia, Sevilla stretched their winless run to a six consecutive matches. Ivan Rakitic missed a second-half penalty that put Sevilla on the rocks, while also having a man of their own sent off at the fixture’s conclusion. Unai Emery’s side dominated the second period after Valencia captain Ricardo Costa was sent to the bench in the 50th minute for picking up two bookings. However, they failed to beat the excellent goalkeeper Diego Alves, who saved plenty of the Sevillistas’ attempts.

Sevilla are eight points short of securing a seeding in the Europa League, but they remain 11 spots above Real Valladolid to keep themselves comfortably adrift of the relegation zone.

Sports betting tip: Rayo and Sevilla both had their recent results frustrate their fans, having displayed dissatisfying maneuvers that would make them nearer to an insecure campaign. In this battle, a low-scoring stalemate can be expected.
