The 2013-14 La Liga season has been an uphill battle for Rayo Vallecano. It was both bitter and sweet, victorious and disappointing. The side started the term at the second highest spot of the table, but have progressively dwindled until they reached the rock bottom. The impressive latter displays, however, helped them escape the relegation zone. They are now ensured of another berth in the Spanish top-flight league, with 43 points under their belt. The fluctuations have been extreme, but have also been rewarding at the end.

Getafe are only two places above the relegation zone, which means that they are still candidates for demotion.  With one match remaining, their final battle will prove decisive of their fate in the Spanish top-flight league. Clubs like Granada and Osasuna are striving hard to secure safety, and so Getafe should do the same. For this side, the season has been a yo-yo battle. They debuted rather embarrassingly, clinching only the 18th spot of the table. Towards mid-season, however, they phenomenally rose to great heights, reaching positions as high as the top five. But with some errors and sudden propulsion of inconsistency, Azulones fell prey to their own mistakes and went back to the drop zone. If not for the good results they earned from their last four matches, the squad would have never been able to get out of the bottom.

Rayo and Getafe’s last five meetings have so far been one-sided. Rayo were the outright dominators of those face-offs, winning all the battles home and away. In fact, three of which were impressive clean sheets and the aggregate scores (all five fixtures) stand at of 9-2.

Sports betting tip: Getafe will succumb to Rayo Vallecano…again.
