Updated: February 6, 2014

Match Date: 09 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Estadio El Sadar

Osasuna were mauled by Villarreal when the latter breathed life into the second half and fired winning goals that Los Rojillos goalkeeper Andres Fernandez failed to save. Perbet exuded slick maneuvers as he netted twice for Villarreal. In between his strikes was Triguero’s brilliant goal. Oriol Riera delivered a skillful goal in the 87th minute to give Osasuna some consolation, and the visitors came close twice more before the final whistle.

Osasuna’s home record in La Liga is marred by inconsistency, but their performances in the recent months are still relatively more adequate than how they fared at the start of the season. The side have gradually improved in aerial duels, but they also need to work harder on their defense in order to cancel out negative goal difference.

Getafe were in a much-needed win against Real Valladolid as they are in trouble of plunging into the drop zone. However, to the frustration of both sides, the match only ended in a draw. With five defeats and two draws in their last seven matches in all competitions, Getafe tumbled down the La Liga standings and faced elimination in the Copa del Rey.

The embarrassing streak looked set to come to an end as Diego Castro’s powerful second-half extra-time strike landed towards the top corner. Unfortunately, it crashed against the post and was abated from pouncing into the back of the net. Not long enough, the full-time whistle was blown, which left Getafe and Valladolid (who had also struck the woodwork early on) sharing the spoils.

Sports betting tip: Only three points and four spots separate Osasuna and Getafe. Form-wise, their recent streaks are quite similar, except that the latter had shipped more consecutive defeats than the former. Expect this battle to come out as a deadlock.
