La Liga Match Preview: Malaga vs. Real Villadolid

Updated: February 26, 2014

Match Date: 01 March 2014 (local)

March Venue:  Estadio La Rosaleda

It was necessary for Malaga to win their previous battle as they are in danger of being knocked off the top-flight league, but their enemies, Almeria, proved to be equally determined to win the brawl as they ended up sharing the spoils. The match finished in a goalless draw, citing a generally shy attack from both sides as the fundamental factor that led to the frustrating result.

At home, Los Boquerones manifest serious problem in their form which is being severed by inconsistency. From their past three fixtures alone, all three results have been obtained: a draw with Valencia 0-0, a victory at Sevilla 3-2, and a defeat from Real Sociedad 0-1. But inconsistency aside, Bernd Schuster’s men have a more problematic issue to address: negative goal difference. Mediocre defense and a weak goalkeeping could drag the side further down the rankings.

Real Villadolid

Winless for four straight weeks, Real Valladolid have to muster more resources to help them perform more strongly in the tournament. Their past four matches may have only rendered them with one defeat (the others were draws), but even so, they were not able to escape the drop zone. Pucela are three points behind from drifting away the 18th spot which means that they have to win their next battles in order to obtain safety.

Juan Ignacio Martínez’s men’s away record in the Spanish top-tier football is achingly poor. Of all the matches they had on the road, only one finished successfully (against Rayo Vallecano 0-3). They also obtained more defeats than draws.

Football betting tip: Malaga and Valladolid are both at high risk of leaving the competition, with each earning undesirable goal difference and incurring upsets that easily outnumber their victories. Expect this meeting to end in a deadlock.
