La Liga Match Preview: Granada vs. Real Valladolid

Updated: January 6, 2014

Match Date: 10 January 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Estadio Los Cármenes

Failing to steal the La Liga victory, or even just share points with Almeria, Granada made an awkward display at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos. This renders the side’s third consecutive defeat from all competitions, after also succumbing to Real Sociedad 1-3 in the same tournament and Alcoron 0-2 at the Copa del Rey. They remain stagnant at 20 points, pinned rather uncomfortably in the league’s bottom half.

While Almeria moved four points clear of the relegation zone, Granada slid in the ladder by one step. The latter’s surprise defeat otherwise served as quencher to the former’s thirst of a truly massive win. Sebastian Dubarbier took the lead in the 14th minute, until Verza doubled their score just before half hour—thanks to the penalty spot obtained from Diego Mainz’s foul. Riki went closest for El Grana, except that he was denied by the crossbar after the interval. Alex Vidal sealed victory for Almeria 11 minutes into full-time.

Real Valladolid

Still struggling to get them out of the relegation zone, Real Valladolid dissatisfied their supporters after only securing a draw in their most recent fixture. The side shared the spoils with Real Betis after holding each other in a goal-empty but thrilling deadlock. While the result did not do the side any substantial favor, it still yielded a point to not let them incur a full-blast embarrassment.

Despite the lack of goals, Pucela manifested drive to go forward, except that they were unable to find the net. In addition, goalkeeper Diego Marino managed to free his team-mate Marc Valiente from any disgrace, after reacting agilely to the defender’s header to prevent an own goal.

Football betting tip: Although Granada and Real Valladolid were both relatively unimpressive in their latest battles, the former are quite more in-form to dominate this battle.
