Match Date: 01 March 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Coliseum Alfonso Perez

Although they dropped two points from their brawl against Celta Vigo and kept themselves at high risk of falling into the bottom, Getafe were nevertheless impressive to pick up a point after they played with just 10 men in the second half.

Angel Lafita put Luis Garcia’s side in the lead in the 20th minute, but they fell short of opportunities to double when Lisandro Lopez was shown a second yellow card early in the second half. This made it easier for Celta to score, which they actually did after Rafinha equalized the scoring one minute before the hour.

Getafe have been without a win since the end of November and are currently four points clear of the drop zone. Their record stands at W7-D5-L13.

Languishing a defeat from Villarreal 2-1, Espanyol were deeply frustrated to at least share the spoils after they missed a late penalty that could have been a significant factor to stretch their unbeaten streak to three matches.

Goals from Moises and Perbet from both periods nearly guaranteed a clean sheet for Villarreal, but the lead was eventually halved by Espanyol when Cordoba scored in the 78th minute. However, the result still ended up in favor of the guests as the Periquitos failed to force a draw following an unsuccessful attempt at late penalty by Sergio Garcia.

Espanyol maintain a seat in the top half, embracing a tenth position after they remained with 32 points and a W9-D5-L11 record. They, however, had a worse goal difference than last week.

Sports betting tip: Getafe and Espanyol each obtained three points from their last couple of matches. In this match, expect the sides fight neck-and-neck and end up in a deadlock.
