Real Madrid CF v RC Celta de Vigo - La Liga

Match Date: 12 January 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Cornellà – El Prat

Espanyol

Incurring back-to-back defeats in two different competitions, Espanyol welcomed the New Year rather unfortunately. The away defeats were otherwise rewarding for clubs like Osasuna and Alcoron, who both scored 1-0 in La Liga and Copa del Rey, respectively. In the Spanish top-tier league, the Periquitos almost did not make it to the top 10, after only scoring 22 points in 18 matches and obtaining a negative-digit goal difference.

Other than Gabriel Torje (who is sidelined due an illness), Javier Aguirre has nothing more to worry about his ensemble.  The dismal performances they had at the start of the year may be bothersome, but they were far from being threatening. The squad remain strong at various departments, such as in aerial battles and in the defense.  They are, however, obliged to be more obsessive of the ball as they are quite weak at possession.

Real Madrid

Enjoying an undefeated run for more than a dozen matches (in all competitions) now, Real Madrid are keeping their promise of rebounding in the Spanish top-flight league and recoup the top spot—which is currently held by defending champions, Barcelona. The current third placers may be five points behind of the leaders and runners up (both are level on 49 points), but they are working out their efforts multiple times harder in order to regain dominance.

Although Raphael Varane and Sami Khedira are unavailable, Los Blancos are still well-equipped to deny all the bullets to be fired at them by their opponents. Linchpins Ronaldo, Benzema, and di Maria will keep the side on flying colors.

Football betting tip: Real Madrid are determined to extend their already-massive streak, and an inconsistent Espanyol will play a not-so-significant threat to fulfill their goals. In this much, expect the visitors to be bagging several goals from the hosts.
