Nine league spots or five points separate Elche from Celta Vigo in the current La Liga rankings, with the latter occupying the higher position. Head to head, however, Elche have won both of their matches in the two-legged encounter they had against their visitors last season.

Elche have picked up four points from their first five fixtures in the Spanish top-flight football, broken down between a victory and a draw. The remainder of the streak was a set of defeats which they incurred from their season opener (versus Barcelona) and from their last two matches (versus Eibar and Real Madrid). In general, Los Franjiverdes are in desperate need of an excellent defensive line. They have already conceded 13 goals from just five meetings and have been rendered goalless by their opponents twice. From their most recent fixture alone, they let five goals go out of sight while only scoring one.

Celta Vigo

Celta Vigo are unbeaten for five consecutive weeks in the new season of La Liga, but within this time frame, only two matches resulted in genuinely impressive outcomes. The side opened their campaign with a 3-1 trouncing at Getafe before it was followed by three straight draws with Cordoba 1-1, Real Sociedad 2-2, and Atletico Madrid 2-2. Their most recent tourney gave Os Celticos their second triumph of the tournament—thanks to the outstanding tandem of Nolito and Joaquin Larrivey. They currently rank sixth in the league table.

Football betting tip: A clean sheet victory by Celta de Vigo against Elche is possible.
