La Liga Match Preview: Celta Vigo vs. Valencia

Updated: January 6, 2014

Match Date:  11 January 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Estadio Balaídos

Celta Vigo

Since curtain raiser, Celta de Vigo have only managed to win once at home. The scarcity in points from their own turf is proof of the side’s inability to weld errors. Their home matches have been appalling to some degree, drawing four times and being beaten four times as well. Needless to say, Luis Enrique struggles to turn this dilemma around.

Celta’s defense suffers for a lack of zealous attention. They have been defeated several times where they often end up goal-less. They are no stranger to blunders, very poor at defending against long shots, lack adeptness in aerial duels, and volatile at defending against through ball attacks. However, these do not mean that the squad are practically weak in the pitch. In fact, they are very strong in creating long shot opportunities as well as shooting from direct free kicks.

Their last two away matches rendered them with back-to-back downfalls, beaten by one goal by Elche and scoring zero goals in their match against Atletico Madrid. Valencia are more than inconsistent in terms of their away performances, as they have succumbed to their enemies more times than the number of occasions they won over them. Los Che have only picked up six points from all of their away fixtures this season.

Valencia are not free of any errors. They have been quite careless in the pitch for several occasions now. Their ability to make good stunts in the air or defend against skillful players are not even enough to compensate for their deficiencies. They are, however, very well reputed for their skill in creating long shot opportunities and in defending set pieces.

Online betting tip: Valencia are capable of thrashing Celta de Vigo, provided that they make extensive use of their gradually improving attacking mechanisms.
