Match Date: 10 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Estadio Balaídos

Celta Vigo

To embark on a continued revival in the Spanish top-flight league, Celta Vigo paved their way to victory after they trounced Granada days ago at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes. Gustavo Cabral opened the scoring for Celta in the 28th minute but only to be equalized by Youssef El Arabi just before the break. However, Augusto Fernandez was able to strike a late winner, sealing the result to 2-1.

Os Célticos are unbeaten in their last four home matches, earning four victories and one draw. They presently rank at number 11 in the league table, scoring total points of 25, netting 29 goals, and conceding 35.

Athletic Bilbao

Bilbao’s last four La Liga matches were all significant sources of points: victories from Almeria 6-1, Real Valladolid 4-2, and Osasuna 1-5, as well as a draw with Real Madrid 1-1. At home, the side are extremely successful, but outside their court they are quite low in energy. Inconsistency is a major problem when Los Leones are on the road. In their last three away matches alone, all possible results had been achieved: victory over Osasuna 1-5, defeat from Real Sociedad 2-0, and draw with Sevilla 1-1.

Despite a few shortcomings, Bilbao remain among the strongest contenders in the tournament. They are only one spot short of achieving a sure Champions League berth and they are astoundingly 23 points clear of the relegation zone.

Online betting tip: In their past five face-offs, Athletic Bilbao and Celta Vigo have drawn only once. Three of those fixtures were won by the visitors while only one was dominated by the hosts. In this battle, expect Althletic Bilbao extend their record of wins.
