Everton’s hope for a Champions League berth was put to an end by careless stunts which eventually led to their downfall against Southampton. The Toffees scored two goals in the match, but those were own goals from Antolin Alcaraz and Seamus Coleman and proved largely fatal for their campaign. Despite exhaustive efforts to turn around the dilemma, Roberto Martínez’s men still failed to win their uphill battle. This gave them another set of points deficit to rank them at number five.

Manchester City, meanwhile, are maintaining a strong traction of the championship as they won a clean sheet against Crystal Palace to put Liverpool and Chelsea in a much higher pressure. City closed within three points of the Anfield league leaders and just one of the second-placed Blues, thanks to the opening strike of Edin Dzeko and the masterful maneuvers of Yaya Toure.

Football betting tip: Manchester City will add another three points to their already huge score.

Arsenal vs. West Bromwich Albion

Match Date:  04 May 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Emirates Stadium

Even if Arsenal win their last remaining matches, they no longer have the chance to end the season atop the rankings. They do not have sure berth in Champions League either and must strive to succeed in the playoffs and prevent Everton from overtaking them. Arsene Wenger’s side have given a good fight throughout the season but some unexpected turns of events unfortunately carried out barriers against their supposed dominance in the English top-tier league.

West Brom had their most inconsistent runs in their past six matches, where they scored two wins, two draws, and two defeats. The side are almost at the table’s last quartile but they only need one more win for them to secure another top-flight appearance for next season. A stronger defense in the lead would be crucial for The Baggies’ survival.

Sports betting tip: West Bromwich will succumb to Arsenal.
