Cardiff broke their winless streak by seizing all three points from Southampton in their brawl at the St. Mary’s Stadium on weekend. What is more rewarding is that it was a clean sheet, their first for this year. However, the three points obtained were not yet enough to free them out of the drop zone. Stoke City, meanwhile bounced back into the winning form as they saw Newcastle United fall prey to their defensive cannon. The victory occurred at the back of a goalless defeat they incurred from Chelsea. They are currently occupying the last spot of the top half.

Three out of the five past meetings between these sides were won by Stoke, while the remainders ended in draws. In almost every respect, the visitors have a much sharper edge than their hosts and their winning odds are so much more pronounced.

Online betting tip: Stoke will grab the victory from Cardiff, perhaps via a clean sheet.

Newcastle United vs. Swansea City

Match Date:  19 April 2014 (local)

Match Venue: St James’ Park

Newcastle United have further veered away from the UEFA slots after they extended their winless run in Premier League to a fourth match. The side succumbed to Stoke City and were put at bay by their opponents on both halves as they saw themselves incur their 15th goalless match this season. Swansea were also unsuccessful in their most recent battle. They were beaten by Chelsea 0-1, thus completing the two legs against the title favorites with unproductive results.

The Magpies currently sit in the ninth spot while Swansea rank six places below them. While their point difference is quite big, their recent forms rather suggest that they may engage in a labored, neck-and-neck battle.

Football betting tip: Newcastle United and Swansea City will battle out a goalless draw.
