Match Date: 28 January 2004 (local)

Match Venue: Liberty Stadium

Swansea City

A pair of devastating maneuvers by Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor made Swansea City even more hopeless of attaining all the three points in their most recent Premier League fixture. The striker headed his team with a 35th minute opening and scored the last of the three goals they obtained in the match, which finished 1-3. A careless Jose Flores netted an own goal, further strengthening the possibility of a Tottenham win. Wilfried Bony volleyed a consolation strike in the 78th minute, but it was never enough to at least force the match in a deadlock.

The jacks remain just three points above the relegation zone and their ballooning injury list is troubling manager Michael Laudrup. Swansea shipped a seventh top-tier week without a win, and Laudrup is heavily tasked to rally his men away from a relegation skirmish.

Fulham

Despite an impressive and defensive first-half, Fulham were still stolen of three points in their brawl against frontrunners Arsenal.  Santi Cazorla struck twice in the second half which led the home side to a comfortable 2-0 victory. There could have been a threat for Arsenal at the start of the second period after Fulham defender and Premier League debutant Dan Burn sent a header goal from a corner. Fortunately for The Gunners, Per Mertesacker was very quick to deny the shot.

The Cottagers are only one point above the bottom three, and a second consecutive shipment of loss made their status even much worse. Of the side’s past seven matches, only two resulted in triumphs; all the rest were terrible defeats.

Football betting tip: While none of these sides showed clearly impressive stunts in their latest battles, one of them could earn all the points from their impending face-off. Swansea are the favorites to win over Fulham.
