Match Date: 08 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: The Friends Provident St. Mary’s Stadium

Southampton shipped a sixth consecutive unbeaten match when they toppled Fulham in an impressive clean sheet. The Saints scored three goals from the fixture, which was a mix of impressive maneuvers by Lallana, Lambert, Rodriguez, and goalkeeper Boruc. This made the side ascend further in the table, from the risk-infested relegation zone to their current place at number nine.

Mauricio Pochettino must have mustered enough confidence from his side’s recent successes (including two FA Cup victories) to rally their way through the Premier League’s top half. The ascent was remarkable to some extent and if they are able to maintain their momentum, then their place in the next top-tier football season is already certain.

Stoke City

Scoring one goal on both periods, Charlie Adam led his team to victory and thrashed Manchester United 2-1. After opening the scoring, Charlie was quick to deny United of points when he successfully cancelled out Robin van Persie’s equalizer after the break. This marked the very first time that United tasted defeat in the Britannia Stadium, as well as served as another blow to the side whose possibility of entering the Champions League is just getting thinner and thinner.

The Potters now have 25 points under their belt to help them rank at number 11. They are still 20 points short of barging into the top five, but they are also seven spots clear of the relegation zone. To date, they have accumulated six victories, seven draws, and 11 defeats.

Football betting tip: While both Southampton and Stoke City were very successful in their most recent battles, it is the former who truly showed immense improvement in both form and strategy. Expect the hosts maul their visitors in a tight-scoring triumph.
