Premier League Match Preview: Manchester City vs. Cardiff City

Updated: January 15, 2014

Match Date: 18 January 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Etihad Stadium

Manchester City

Despite their controversial win over Newcastle United, Manchester City are still considered to be among the strongest clubs in the season. They are unbeaten for a 15th consecutive match, in which 13 resulted in victories and two in stalemates. In the English top-tier football, The Citizens have won for the 15th time, giving them a new record of W15-D2-L4.

Manuel Pellegrini continues to fight to regain the top spot, which is now back to Arsenal’s possession. The tooth and nail rivalry between these sides to bag the title is among this football season’s most intense. While the other major leagues seem to tell the obvious champions, the English Premier League does not. In any case, Manchester City have a very good shot at finishing the season on top of the ladder.

Cardiff City

The Bluebirds’ inconsistency problem is evident even in their last five matches alone (in all competitions). Of those fixtures, only one rendered a victory, another one forced a draw, while the remaining three finished in defeats. Their form in the Premier League is even much worse, having earned zero wins in their five latest tourneys (four losses, one draw).

Cardiff City are currently positioned at number 18, which means that they are among the league’s relegation candidates. They have only picked up points in 10 out of 21 fixtures, scoring 15 goals, but conceding 34. Apparently, they are having a severe problem in the defense.

Online betting tip: Cardiff City are headed to another upset with their next battle featuring the very in-form Manchester City. Expect the home side thrash their visitors in a clean sheet of at least two goals.
