Premier League Match Preview: Everton vs. Fulham

Updated: December 11, 2013

Match Date: 14 December 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Goodison Park

Despite being unbeaten for the last eight Premier League weeks, Everton are not the top occupants of the league table. This is because half of those matches concluded only in draws, while the other half were victories (accentuated by three clean sheets). Nonetheless, a top five position is inspiring enough.

In their most recent outing, Everton held Arsenal in a 1-1 draw to keep the table leaders devoid of substantial lead. The home side were unsuccessful at taking full advantage of their rivals’ mishaps last weekend after substitute Gerard Deulofeu delivered an equalizer to Mesut Ozil’s 80th minute opening with a hard shot from a tight angle six minutes before whistle, giving the visitors a deserved point.

Fulham ended their losing streak on weekend by slamming Aston Villa 2-0 to give new manager Rene Meulensteen his first victory. The squad have been very unfortunate in the six matches prior to their latest success. None of those fixtures gave them at least one point, although they were able to score goals in three occasions. They currently rank at number 18, within the relegation zone, but are still five points clear of the lowest position.

Away from home, Fulham are not the tough squad to absorb pressure mustered from a foreign stadium. Of the seven away matches they had this season, only two yielded positive results. The rest of the fixtures were perilous downfalls.

Online betting tip: Against an increasingly more organized, consistent, and dynamic squad, Fulham will have slim odds at obtaining three points. Although the visitors may be able to score at least one goal, Everton will ultimately win this encounter.
