Premier League Match Preview: Crystal Palace vs. Manchester United

Updated: February 18, 2014

Match Date: 22 February 2014 (local)

Match Date: Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace

The Eagles remain with 26 points from 25 matches after their battle against Everton was postponed due to a police decision. They currently rank at number 15, still a moderately secure place but is comforting enough compared to their inclusion in the drop zone in the past weeks. Crystal Palace’s attack has improved to some notches, but their defense remains in dire need of some evolving.

Tony Pulis is doing a great job for Palace’s home fixtures, having been able to keep his side unbeaten in their last four matches inside the Selhurst Park. Three of these resulted in stunning victories, which include two clean sheets from Stoke City and Hull City.

Manchester United

Arsenal were successfully denied by Manchester United to return to the table’s summit after the sides battled to a goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium. Scoring chances emerged aplenty, especially in the first half. However, none of these was completed into conversion, as Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud and United’s Robin van Persie wasted opportunities to find the net. Excellent goalkeeping from both sides also contributed significantly to the tourney resulting without any goal scored.

The Red Devils remain within the top seven, and are still a dozen points short of obtaining berth in the Champions League. Regaining the top spot would already be very difficult at this stage for David Moyes’ men, especially that the top three (Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City) and even Liverpool are fighting tremendously hard to bag the championship.

Sports betting tip: Since Pulis took Palace under his wing, the club have been quite consistent at home. In this battle, expect the Eagles fight neck-and-neck against superpower Manchester United.  A medium-scoring draw should seal this battle off.
