Premier League Match Preview: Chelsea vs. Everton

Updated: February 17, 2014

Match Date: 22 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stamford Bridge

Chelsea made a stunning win at West Bromwich when they thrashed Pepe Mel’s men at their very own home, thus pulling off three points from the face-off and repositioning themselves at the table’s top. While this has been a brilliant ascent, Chelsea are only one point clear of previous leaders Arsenal. They, however, earned five more goals then them.

José Mourinho’s men seemed very recharged in the past weeks of the Premier League, but their momentum rapidly dwindled when they met up with championship rivals Manchester City for the FA Cup. The side were slammed on a clean sheet by The Citizens, conceding a total of two goals from both halves. In the top-flight league, they may be the current leaders but they are still 14 goals short of Manchester City’s goal difference.

Everton’s match against Crystal Palace was postponed due to a police decision. This leaves their brawl with Tottenham Hostpur as their latest top-tier fixture, where they were beaten on a one-goal clean sheet. At the FA Cup, however, they finished off highly successful as they slammed Swansea City with a three-goal lead—netted by Traore, Naismith, and Baines.

Everton are currently in the table’s sixth spot, having earned 45 points from 25 matches. Of the clubs ranking within the top seven, The Toffees are the only ones to not obtain a double-digit goal difference. They are substantially skilled at attacking, but they need extra precaution in their defense.

Football betting tip: Chelsea and Everton, both having a relatively solid run in the season, could nail a spectacular encounter. Expect this fixture to conclude in a thrilling draw.
