Premier League Match Preview: Cardiff City vs. Hull City

Match Date: 22 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Cardiff City Stadium

Cardiff City

What should have been an okay fight for Cardiff City turned out quite frustrating as they were held by Aston Villa in a goalless draw—an undesirable result for a club who are in dire need of three points. The sharing of spoils was more beneficial to the visitors than to the hosts, who are still stuck at the drop zone.  Cardiff dominated the first period and struck potential goals only to miss the net. Villa were quite meek at the opening 45 minutes but could have taken all three points had Leandro Bacuna and Gabriel Agbonlahor became more agile at handling the ball.

Hull City

Southampton forward Jose Fonte’s second period goal saw Hull City incur their 13th defeat in the season, suffering from a three-point deficit to pull them down in the table’s bottom half. The Saints inflicted a 0-1 home loss to their hosts, despite a few of their men raking good stances at the start of the battle. Rickie Lambert and Jay Rodriguez were both reckless in the pitch which raised Hull’s hopes of at least earning a draw by the end of the tourney. To their dismay, Fonte settled things in the 69th minute when he stabbed over the line at the second attempt. This left The Tigers with sno choice but to go home empty-handed and increase their conceded goals to 31.

Sports betting tip: Cardiff City could take advantage of Hull City’s current fiasco on its injury list and find a good way to finish this battle bringing home the three points. This could result in the side’s fifth home win in the season.
